Significant work experience in the development and implementation of Women, Infants & Children (WIC) education and training activities.
Minimum Education or Training Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Nutrition, Public Health, or related field required
- Registered Dietitian or Certified Nutrition Specialist credentials preferred
- Advanced training in Breastfeeding Education
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Expertise in the area of maternal, infant and child nutrition, including breastfeeding
- Strong familiarity with WIC Program regulations, policies and procedures
- Knowledge of current training methodologies
- Ability to develop original ideas and creative problem solving methods
- Excellent planning and organizational abilities. Able to competently handle multiple tasks and deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal English language communication skills.
- Strong supervision, administration and management skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated interest in and ability for working with WIC’s target population group
- Sensitive to, and respect for, the cultural diversity and bias of the target population
Description of Duties:
- Provides coordination, oversight, and supervision for all staff and activities within the Nutrition & Breastfeeding Services Unit
- Provides oversight and guidance to staff developing training programs for professional and paraprofessional staff; conducts staff training as needed and appropriate
- Develops, administers, and evaluates breastfeeding and nutrition education policies and procedures, and the nutrition, breastfeeding, and health education component of the agency’s program, with input from unit members and in close collaboration with other department managers and site staff to ensure coordinated and integrated program services
- Advises supervisory staff under his/her direction on personnel issues, including performance evaluations and corrective actions
- Assists the Executive Director in the recruitment and selection of professional and paraprofessional department and field staff
- Provides consultation, advice and recommendations, and works in coordination with the Executive Director in areas related to the nutrition and breastfeeding components of the program, including developing and evaluating special projects
