Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Some post High School education in Accounting; BS degree in Accounting preferred
  • Understanding of basic accounting principles
  • Proficiency with Excel, Access
  • Minimum 3-5 year’s experience with Payroll and Accounts Payable in a high volume environment
  • Experience with automated payroll and accounts payable computer systems
  • Thorough knowledge of payroll related state and federal laws
  • High level of attention to detail

Description of Duties:

  • Develop best practices to improve efficiency of accounts payable and payroll processes;
  • Ensure that Accounts Payable and Payroll are processed timely and accurately;
  • Perform the day to day processing of accounts payable transactions to ensure that project balances are maintained in an up to date and accurate manner.
  • Receive and verify invoices and requisitions for goods and services;
  • Reconcile processed work by verifying entries and comparing system reports to vendor balances;
  • Verify that transactions comply with financial policies and procedures;
  • Monitor discount opportunities and verify federal identification numbers;
  • Prepare batches of invoices for data entry; enter invoices for payment; schedule and prepare checks; resolve purchase order, contract, invoice, or payment discrepancies and documentation; ensure credit is received for outstanding memos; issue stop-payments or purchase order amendments;
  • Record checks and prepare for mailing;
  • Provide support in tax calculation and filing for employees;
  • Analyze payroll problems and provide appropriate resolution;
  • Address payroll related queries and requests from employees;
  • Review payroll electronic timecard and calculate salaries;
  • Distribute salary labor reports;
  • Complete payroll functions in order to ensure staff are paid in an accurate and timely manner. Process paperwork for new employees and enter select employee information into the payroll system;
  • Establish and maintain confidential employee files.
