ETL DEVELOPER/DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR sought by LA Biomedical Research Institute at Harbor – UCLA Medical Center in Torrance, CA

Duties:  Develop, test, deploy, and define requirements for Business Intelligence solutions. Maintain, configure, and operate existing Business Intelligence assets. Provide Business Intelligence training and customer support. Develop, implement, and maintain Business Intelligence (BI) solutions with a primary focus on Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) Development in the Microsoft SQL Server platform. Design, develop, and automate ETL processes and develop solutions for handling incoming data into a Data Warehouse (DW) from a variety of sources. Interface with stakeholders across various teams to understand various data sources and data structures. Participate in ETL development best practices and ETL strategy development and implementation. Design and develop solutions with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS). Contribute to the development of reports in SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS). Design SQL code and T-SQL procedures. Implement relational and dimensional schemes. Create physical data models. Design ETL test strategy and perform unit testing. Design and document ETL process flow. Perform data profiling. Document and publish data profiling metrics. Design ETL lineage. Perform ad-hoc analysis of data stored in Microsoft SQL databases. Modify existing reports and dashboards to correct errors, adapt existing reports and dashboards to evolving requirements and performance improvement. Responsible for all functions associated with the design, implementation, configuration, and maintenance of Microsoft SQL Server and MySQL databases including security, back-up, recovery, monitoring, logging, and reporting. Configure and maintain database servers and processes, including monitoring of system health and performance, to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security. Independently analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time, providing problem resolution end-to-end. Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities. Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes. Perform all other ETL Developer/DBA duties.

Requirements:  Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field plus five (5) years of post-baccalaureate progressive experience as ETL Developer, Technology Analyst/Consultant or related occupation, including experience in data warehouse development with Microsoft SQL Server database platform; leading data warehouse projects from initiation through delivery; producing iterative deliverable from a proof-of-concept stage to final deliverable; working on conceptual, logical, and physical data modeling techniques; deploying SSIS and SSRS for Business Intelligence reporting and analytical projects; writing T-SQL scripts and stored procedures; creating and maintaining SSIS ETL packages; and retrieving information from Microsoft SQL databases using Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio and Microsoft Visual Studio.
